From October 22 to October 26, 2024, HoReCo staff gathered in Musanze District for a transformative retreat. This special event brought together team members to reflect on their shared mission, enhance their skills, and give back to the community. Local government leaders, including the Governor of the Northern Province, joined the retreat, underscoring the importance of HoReCo’s work in agricultural development and community partnership.
The retreat began with a warm welcome from the Governor of the Northern Province, who applauded HoReCo’s dedication to agriculture and community development. As part of their “giving back” initiative, HoReCo collaborated with local Kinigi Sector officials to provide health insurance for families in need, bringing support and hope to those facing health challenges.
During the week, staff visited HoReCo’s PSPP farm in Kinigi to explore the Potato Seed Project, gaining valuable insights into seed production techniques and advanced agricultural practices. This hands-on experience strengthened the team’s knowledge, highlighting HoReCo’s commitment to enhancing food security and agricultural innovation in Rwanda.
Workshops focused on practical skill-building in agronomy, project management, and irrigation, while team-building activities fostered collaboration and camaraderie, ensuring HoReCo’s team is even better prepared to achieve their goals.
A dedicated workshop reviewed Q4 progress for Lot 4, where key stakeholders, including HoReCo’s CEO, Chairman, and RAB contract managers, assessed the impact of proximity coaching services on farmer organizations in irrigation schemes. This session was crucial for addressing challenges and exploring ways to enhance HoReCo’s impact-driven work in the future.
The retreat concluded with reflections on the week’s learning and discussions on upcoming initiatives, leaving staff members renewed and motivated to serve Rwanda’s agricultural community. To deepen this renewed commitment, the Ministry of National Unity and Civic Engagement (MINUBUMWE) conducted a session on patriotism, inspiring all to serve not just as professionals, but as devoted stewards of Rwanda’s future.
