The Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB) hosted a validation workshop to review HoReCo’s Quarter 3 Progress Report for Lot 4.





The event convened RAB Contract Managers, RAB Station Mnagers, the HoReCo CEO, senior staff, and local farmers. Discussions focused on major milestones achieved during the quarter, with special attention to the impact of proximity coaching in strengthening farmer organizations and enhancing irrigation scheme management.
HoReCo remains steadfast in its mission to drive sustainable agriculture and ensure national food security.

This year’s Agri-Show brought together a wide range of stakeholders in the agriculture sector, including government institutions, private companies, development partners, and farmers from across the country. The event offered an excellent platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and the promotion of innovations aimed at transforming agriculture in Rwanda.





The day was graced by the Honorable Minister of Agriculture, who officially launched the Agri-Show and delivered inspiring remarks. In his address, the Minister emphasized the importance of collaboration, innovation, and inclusive participation—particularly of youth and women—in driving sustainable agricultural growth.

We are currently recruiting for the following key positions:
1. Irrigation Scheme Managers (7 Positions)
Location: Various Irrigation Schemes
Reports to: District Project Coordinator
Role Overview:
The Scheme Manager will oversee the efficient management, coordination, and implementation of irrigation extension services within the assigned scheme. The role ensures timely proximity service delivery to farmers and fosters collaboration with stakeholders to enhance agricultural productivity and improve the efficiency of Water User Organizations (WUOs).
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Irrigation & Drainage, Agricultural Mechanization, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in farmer extension services.
Proven experience in team leadership, community mobilization, and participatory approaches.
Strong knowledge of Rwanda’s irrigation systems and crop production techniques.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Organize and train farmers on new agricultural techniques to boost productivity, ensuring daily proximity coaching from nursery preparation to market.
Support cooperatives and individual farmers in establishing production calendars aligned with market demand for continuous production cycles.
Assist farmers in accessing improved seeds and fertilizers, and help set up simple access mechanisms.
Promote Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) to meet market standards.
Develop robust strategies for water fee collection, and assist IWUAs with water distribution planning, infrastructure maintenance, and system cleaning.
Guide cooperatives and farmers in designing specific irrigation systems for their crops and assist in accessing required irrigation equipment.

2. Procurement & Logistics Officer
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, Logistics or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Procurement & logistics (agriculture sector preferred).
Strong knowledge of ERP systems and inventory management software.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement:
Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers for agricultural inputs and equipment.
Prepare purchase orders and maintain procurement records.
Ensure procurement practices comply with national laws and internal policies.
Logistics:
Coordinate transportation and storage of materials to various project sites.
Monitor shipments, resolve delivery issues, and maintain accurate documentation.
Manage warehouse stock levels and logistics cost-efficiency.
Prepare regular reports and support internal audits.
