Dr. Uwamahoro Commends HoReCo Farm for Excellence in Potato Seed Production

On 22 January 2026, Dr. Florence Uwamahoro, Acting Director General of the Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Board (RAB), visited the RAB/Kinigi site to evaluate the performance of HoReCo Farm, one of the key partners supporting Rwanda’s agricultural development agenda.

During a guided tour of the farm, Dr. Uwamahoro expressed appreciation for HoReCo Farm’s impressive achievements in the multiplication of high-quality potato seed. She highlighted the farm’s significant contribution to strengthening Rwanda’s potato value chain through the production of certified seed that meets national standards.

She commended the management and staff for their professionalism, commitment, and consistent efforts in maintaining quality production systems. Dr. Uwamahoro also encouraged the farm to continue improving its operations, adopting innovative practices, and sustaining high performance in order to further support national food security and agricultural resilience.

HoReCo Farm currently cultivates several important potato varieties, including Kinigi, Cyerekezo, Gikungu, Kirundo, Ndamira, and Cruza. These varieties play a crucial role in increasing productivity, improving disease resistance, and meeting the needs of farmers across the country.

The visit reaffirmed the importance of strong collaboration between RAB and private sector partners in accelerating agricultural transformation. HoReCo Farm’s continued success stands as a strong example of how strategic partnerships can drive sustainable growth in Rwanda’s potato sector and contribute to the broader modernization of agriculture.
