High-Level Delegation Visits ETI Mpanga Irrigation Scheme Ahead of Official Handover

On 25 March 2026, the ETI Mpanga Irrigation Scheme in Kirehe District hosted a high-level official visit led by Hon. Telesphore Ndabamenye, Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI), and Dr. Jimmy Gasore, Minister of Infrastructure. They were accompanied by Pudence Rubingisa, Governor of Eastern Province, H.E. Mridu Pawan Das, High Commissioner of India to Rwanda, together with other distinguished guests.

The delegation toured the project site to evaluate its operational readiness ahead of the official handover to the Government of Rwanda by Indian partners. Currently, the scheme is managed on a daily basis by dedicated HoReCo agronomists under the OMIS Project, funded by the Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Board. (RAB)

This visit marked an important step toward strengthening irrigation services, increasing agricultural productivity, and improving farmers’ resilience in Eastern Rwanda. It also reflects the continued partnership between Rwanda and India in advancing sustainable development and modern agriculture.
