Farmer Representatives Validate Q3 2026 OMIS Implementation Report, Reinforcing Accountability in Irrigation Management
Farmer representatives from Lot 4 districts have successfully validated the Q3 2026 Implementation Report under the Operation and Management of Irrigation Schemes (OMIS) Project, reaffirming their commitment to transparency, accountability and effective management of irrigation schemes.
The validation meeting, held under the oversight of the Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB), brought together farmer representatives from Gasabo, Kicukiro, Rwamagana, Gakenke, Musanze, Burera and Rulindo Districts.
The meeting provided an important platform for farmers and agronomists to review implementation progress, share experiences and strengthen coordination in the management of irrigation schemes. Discussions underscored the critical role of close collaboration between farmers and agricultural extension teams in improving productivity, enhancing irrigation efficiency and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
Speaking during the meeting, Jacques Dawson, Chairman of HoReCo, commended the strong collaboration between farmers and agronomists, noting that effective coordination and continuous technical support are essential to improving agricultural productivity and strengthening the management of irrigation schemes.
He also expressed appreciation to RAB for its continued partnership with HoReCo in delivering timely technical assistance, agricultural advisory services and sustainable interventions that contribute to increased productivity, improved irrigation management and better livelihoods for farmers.
The successful validation of the Q3 2026 report demonstrates the collective commitment of farmers, agronomists, HoReCo and RAB to strengthening accountability, improving irrigation services and advancing Rwanda’s agricultural transformation agenda.
