HoReCo Participates in the Official Launch of the 2027A Agricultural Season at Nyarububa Marshland
A team from the Horticulture in Reality Corporation (HoReCo), led by Chairman Dawson J. Iyamuremye, participated in the official launch of the 2027A Agricultural Season held on 10 October 2026 at Nyarububa Marshland in Rulindo District. The event was presided over by Rwanda’s Prime Minister, Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva.
During the event, the Prime Minister assured farmers that the damaged irrigation infrastructure would be rehabilitated to ensure a reliable water supply to their fields and boost agricultural productivity. He also called on farmers to take responsibility for maintaining the infrastructure to ensure its sustainability.
HoReCo regularly monitors agricultural activities at Nyarububa Marshland through the OMIS Project, funded by the Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB). Through this project, HoReCo works closely with farmers to promote improved farming practices and increase agricultural productivity.
Farmers report significant improvements in crop yields through collaboration with HoReCo agronomists. Maize yields have increased from 2.5 to 6.5 tonnes per hectare, while bean yields have risen from 1.5 to 3.5 tonnes per hectare, demonstrating progress in agricultural productivity.
Nyarububa Marshland covers 97.27 hectares and supports 1,302 farmers organised under the KOYAKIRU Cooperative. The planned rehabilitation of the irrigation infrastructure is expected to improve water availability, further increase crop yields, and strengthen food security in the area.
